DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE DIFFERENT QUALITIES OF CANE AND RATTAN?
Cane is graded when grown and sold with grading from A to F, the best being A.
Most people think all cane is the same,
Like many natural products there are different grades of quality, cane in its raw state is sold by weight; This is done after drying and this determines its strength and durability. Grade A can only reach a maximum thickness, because it is not possible to steam and shape to the factory jigs if you allow it to grow any further. Inferior grades will be under this size and weight due to lower density, thinner and less dense, therefore inferior cane is easier to steam and fit to the jigs used to build cane suites. As a result it is cheaper to buy, quicker to manufacture and is the reason why it is chosen by wholesalers that supply the UK.
Once manufactured into CANE FURNITURE anything less than grade A cane will have thinner poles (i.e. the legs) with tiny splits and knots. In using thin poles on cane conservatory furniture it will tend to splay the legs outwards after a short period of time. Using anything less than grade A cane makes it very difficult to get a superb finish when you come to stain and lacquer the end product.
At Cane Direct we use only grade A cane offering the finest finish available and we can give you a 10 year guarantee on the durability and strength of our conservatory furniture. Please remember when purchasing your new conservatory furniture that it is very difficult to reproduce the colour of the cane furniture on a computer image due to different browsers and monitor types. How ever you may request a cane sample from us free of charge.
Also, the other things to look at are the accessories. What a lot of companies don't do is bead the glass into the tables, which can be a little dangerous if you have small children scooting around the place. At Cane Direct we bead all our glass into the tables, with a cane bead, not only to make it safer, but it also gives the product that nice finished look.
As we explained above, the different grades can be seen in the photos. Picture 1A shows the arms. The arm on the left is standard cane used by UK wholesalers. Look at how thin the pole is compared to the right hand image, which is grade A cane used by Cane Direct. And this is just one reason why we can offer what no other company can, A 10 year guarantee.
Picture 2A shows the bottom of the legs again look at the how thin the leg poles are on the left compared to Cane Directs on the right. It is only when you put the products together that you can really see the difference in quality. We have worked very hard at Cane Direct for the last 15 years to maintain and develop our quality and offer our products at the very best prices. We only ever use Grade A cane.
